I got (my very first)one at good karma (by Jinx), I also got one at body piercing unlimited (I think his name was Mike) I like the artists at BPU better though they both gave me opposite tips on caring for the tattoo

It's your skin. I'd check the portfolio's and the artists at all of them. Any of the shops can do pretty much anything you want. If you want it the best it can be, you gotta find the artist who does that style the best. I got mine done by Michael T. who has since left AK. Now I gotta go to N. Dakota to track him down for recoloring.

It's all about good karma tats, and the best thing to use for healing is AQUAPHOR in my and many other peoples opinion

Doesn't matter where you get a tattoo, every place will tell you a different thing for healing. I've gotten inked here in Fairbanks, in Anchorage and in 3 different cities in Germany. Every single one said something different. Keep it covered for 3 days. Keep it covered for a week. Keep it covered while you sleep the first night and then uncovered forever after. Use lotion. Don't use lotion. Use lotion with aloe. Use this antiseptic creme.
Best advice is go for the art you like, with an artist you trust, and follow their instructions. I think as long as you keep it moisturized once it starts to itch, don't pick anything off of it if it bled, and keep it out of the sun you're pretty much gonna have a sweet tattoo that'll stick around.
Just my 2 cents worth. Take it or leave it. =)

**EDIT** Rules of tattoos: Never get a name unless it's your child's, and get it where you can see it if you plan to only get one. If you can't see it, you WILL get another one. Lastly, get something you love, not a whim. It'll be there forever unless you like lasers. =D

not just lasers theres some shit called wrecking balm supposedly, i hear the commercial like fifty fuckin times a day
but angel is right almost any method works for healing, just do what your artist tells you and your ink will turn out fine
